MOCAS
The Men of Color Attaining Success (MOCAS) was created in 2023 at St. Charles West High School as a means to help support African-American male high school students in developing positive mindsets, and to encourage academic and personal excellence and enhance leadership skills.
The very first cohort of MOCAS consisted of seventeen junior and senior males enrolled at SCW.
The mentorship program was created by Yolanda Curry, School Counselor along with the assistance of Dionne Davis, an educator and Founder and Owner of Dynamic Educational Consulting.
Dr. Rodney Lewis, Associate Superintendent of the City of St. Charles School District, and an author and speaker, served as the program’s primary facilitator and mentor.
Each session included fellowship and food along with lessons delivered by Dr. Lewis. In the Spring of 2023, the MOCAS students attended their first field trip to St. Charles Community College where they attended the Men of Color Success Summit.
